The possibility for the Higgs mechanism to coexist with the asymptotic freedom is discussed in detail for Grand unification models. It is shown within the SU(N) gauge groups that any realistic asymptotically free models which retain, in particular, the SU(3)xU(l) symmetry unbroken are hardly possible to be constructed basing on ultracviolet stable fixed points. It is found that there is no alternative and that the only way to provide the coexistence lies in building asymptotically free models using the ultraviolet unstable fixed points which realize the special solutions of the renormalization group equations.

The results of experimental and theoretical investigations of the optically pumped green-band Xeo laser are presented. Laser output is of 2.2 J; pulse duration is of 8 s, and the quantum efficiency of the pumping energy conversion in laser radiation is up to 153% in the mixture of N20:Xe:He. The possibilities of the future increase in quantum efficiency and the laser output up to 50 J with the overall efficiency of 0.1% are discussed.

The problem of entropy increase in quantum-mechanical systems, i.e. the problem of stochastization of the dynamical system, is discussed. The same problem existed in classical mechanics; not so long ago it was solved on the basis of the instability concept. In quantum mechanics the same ideas are used; it is shown, however, that it is only the parametric instability that can exist in this case. Modernization of the definition of the observed value in quantum mechanics is suggested. This leads, in the case of unstable systems, to the expression for entropy which differs from the traditional one. This procedure makes it possible to describe the kinetics of entropy increase and to obtain a correct expression for entropy In thermodynamically equilibrium systems as the limiting case of the general expression. In classical mechanics, such a modernization has become traditional and, as a rule, is not discussed any more.

Muon interactions with lead have been studied in the energy region above 3 Tev. The effects found earlier /1,2/ and related to the existence of some additional energy losses for the relativistic miens were confirmed. These are the flat energy spectrum of cascades, the existence of so called «short» cascades, the rapid increase of the cross-section for production of «short» cascades as the muon energy increases. She possible explanation of observed effects is given which connects then with the coherent bremsstrahlung and e+, e» — pair production by the relativistic particles in polycristals.

The emission of Induced ondulatory radiation (OR) in the sources and the acceleration of ions in the ondulatory linear accelerators (OLA) have been studied. The special ondulatory buncher (SOB) has been proposed. Scientific Information on the OLA and OR sources available up to date are discussed. The peculiarities of the particle motion in the superposition of the electromagnetic wave and helical ondulator have been Investigated by the known analitical and numerical methods. Ondulators with two parameters such as step and magnetic field having constant and variable values ere considered. The focusing fields of the ondulators were taken into account. The acceleration of lone In OLA by radio waves is discussed. The efficiency of bunching of the particle beam is considered in the case of the SOB which consists of the onduletor having along Its axis the smoothly increased magnetic field In the start region. It has been proved that: 1) the SOB will capzure all the particles of the Injected beam in its stability region independently on the initial phases of the particles f 2) the SOB will form the sequence of similar bunchers with short fronts and tile length much less than the wavelength of the external source, 3) the SOS will permit to decrease the additional energy spread introduced in the beam by OLA or 08 sour0oe. The first and second conditions аre important for both the acceleration of particles and the emission of the spontaneous coherent and latticed OK, The SOB with variable step ondulators according to the third condition can represent the Interest for the high efficiency induced OR sources and amplifiers. The system consisting of the accelerator + BOB + accelerator + ondulator can produce herd spontaneous coherent OH, the SOB generating the instantaneous front bunchers.

For arbitrary gauge model of unified interaction the thermodynamical potential including exchange and correlation corrections has been calculated at superhigh temperatures. The results obtained are further specialized for the realistic SU(5) model and are subsequently improved by using the renormallzation group. The equation of state obtained is applied to description of the expansion of the universe at the very high temperature. As a result of asymptotic freedom postulate we found that the temperature of the relict gravitational radiation should be of order of 1°K.

The results of further study of a laser mult-pulse explosive type jet are presented. The thrust produced by an unstationary gas flow within a nozzle due to laser induced blast waves is determined both theoretically and experimentally. The characteristics of a radiating gas flow are numerically analyzed by one- and two-dimensional gasdynamic computer codes. The spatial structure of the gas flow and the radiation fluxes from a laser plasma are calculated. She radiation spectrum is estimated. The calculated pressure pulses on nozzles of various shapes are compared with the measured ones. Optimum nozzles, repetition rates and durations of the laser pulses and wavelengths of laser radiation providing the best propelling characteristics are established. Basing on an analysis of mechanical and thermal plasma notions on the nozzle walls some recommendations are given concerned with laser thruster design.
