В обзоре дано систематизированное описание важнейшего класса электро- и магнитооптических аффектов в нематических жидких кристаллах (НПО — ориентационных эффектов (ОЭ). Отражены основные напряжения новейших исследований в этой области. На основе хорошо разработанной в настоящее время континуальной теории НЖК, последовательно рассмотрены статическая деформация директора в условиях жесткой граничной связи и ОЭ в условиях слабой связи молекул с поверхностью, отвечающие общей форме граничных условий. Отдельно рассмотрены динамика ориентационных эффектов и влияние дефектов структуры НЖК на ход ориентационных эффектов.

A theory of coherent excitation of multilevel systems under effect of a slowly (adiabatically) switched on resonance field is developed. Excitation of a number of simple systems is considered as illustration. It is shown that a system is often inverted under these conditions, even where it could not be inverted by an instantaneously switched on field. It is shown that the excitation selectivity of a quantum system by a resonance field of amplitude s is not limited by the Rabi frequency Ed01/0. This limit is valid only in case of an instantaneous turning on of the field* whereas an adiabatically applied field can excite selectively only one of any two close-lying levels even if the distance between them is much smaller than Edo1. This property (super-selectivity) is a result of the abrupt jumps in the frequency dependences of level populations and is unique to the adiabatic case, She jumps are due to the feet that depending on the field frequency the system may be brought to physically different adiabatic states from one and the same initial state.

We discuss and comраге the Lorentz oovariant path integral quantization of the three bose string models, namely the Nambu, Eguchi and Brink-Di Vecchia-Howe-Polyakov (BDHP) ones. Along with a critical review of the subject with some undertainties and ambiguities clearly stated various new results are presented. We work out the form of the BDHf string anastz for the Wilson average and prove a formal inequivalence of the exact Naobu and BDHP models for any apace-time dimension d . The new method is proposed for the analysis of the mass composition of primary cosmic rays. The method is baaed on the superposition model for interactions of high energy nuclei and uses four or three basic EАS components: electrons, muопs, hadrons and Cerenkov light. The usage of four or three parameters instead of two increases the capability of the shower separation by the mass of the primary particle.

Geometric peculiarities of ion cyclotron and ion-Ion hybrid resonance domains in stellarator are analysed for the case When cyclotron resonance conditions are set in plasma center, estimations indicate that for a stellarator with strong helical field these peculiarities may lead to pronounced enhancement of direct ion cyclotron absorbtion. The results are Illustrated with exact computation made for L-2 stellarator.

№ 171 Electric polarizability of hydrogen atom with Z ≥137

The electric dipole polarizability of the relativistic electron moving in the field of a heavy nucleus with a finite radius R and a charge Z ≥ 137 is calculated. It is shown that, when Z is close to a critical Zс ≈ 170 at which the production of e+e-pairs in the nucleus field is beginning, the one-particle contribution to the polarizability is negative. At much Z the contribution to of from e+ e -vacuum polarisation is estimated and proves to be positive and of the same order of value as the one-particle contribution. The muon flux fluctuation distributions in EAS, registered by the Tien Shan and AKBHO arrays, were analysed with the help of the statistical method of the inverse problem solution. It Is shown, that in the energy interval 1015-1017eV the relative primary proton contribution is not smaller than 404, what is in contradiction with the predictions of the galactic diffusion models.

The one-electron charge transfer in collisions of ions with the charge Z≥ 6 and atoms is considered in the range of velocities V< √ Z . The analytical method developed for solution of the many-level problem Is a general lest ion of the decay modal and the two-state nonadiabatic coupling approximation. Formulae for the distribution of reaction products over the principal and angular quantum numbers are obtained. Total cross section calculations are in agreement with experimental data for the charge transfer in collisions of nuclei with atomic and molecular hydrogen targets. The theory describes oscillations of the total cross section.

We breefly discuss and compare a number of string ansatze for the Wilson loop average. Several results connected with the free Polyakov string quantization are summarized. However, it is stressed that the open QCD string must have quarks at the ends and that is why the string scattering amplitudes are to be derived starting with the QCD path integral. She corresponding expression for the amplitude la obtained and la illustrated on the example of the 2-dimensional QCD.

General solution for the s-matrix of relativistic dynamical systems subject to Bose and Fermi first and second class constraints is obtained by canonical quantization in the ease of reducibility, i.e. when the first class constraints are linearly dependent. The null-eigenvectors of the constraints may also be linearly dependent and possess null-eigenvectors of their own, which, in their turn, nay be linearly dependent, etc. She solution obtained remains valid in the present case of multistage reducibility of constraints.

The coefficients of delution of one-dimensional JSPC from a -ray with energy Eo=1014 eV are Investigated at electron threshold energies Em =1011 eV and Em =1012 eV in lead. The distribution functions of the delution coefficients determined by different techniques of calculation of and at various intervals of BFC registration (over t) are considered. The paper presents the results of analogous Investigation of EPC delution coefficients for three-dimensional cascade in lead chamber. The information of the cascade delution coefficient is assumed to be useful as a part of a more complete technique of the BFC identification.
