We prove the on-shell equivalence of the order альфа» -terms in the strong effective equations (for the graviton, dilaton and the antisymmetric tensor) to the vanishing of the corresponding (two-loop) terms in the Weyl anomaly coefficients for the general bosonic Сигма-model. We first determine the АЛЬФА’-term in the string effective action starting with the known expressions for the 3- and 4-point string amplitudes. Then we compute the two-loop БЕТА-function in the general СИГМА-model with the antisymmetric tensor coupling. Special emphasis is made on the renormalization scheme dependence of the BETA-function. Our result disagrees with previously known one and cannot be manifestly expressed in terms of the generalized curvature for ttoe connection with torsion. Ws also prove (to the order АЛЬФА’2 that the parallelizable spaces are solutions of the string equations of motion and establish the complete 5-loop expression for the «central charge» coefficient.

The Grand Unification model that includes conformal quantum gravity is considered. One-loop counter-terms are calculated, and the renormalization group equations are derived for Yukawa and scalar coupling constants. The possibility of asymptotical freedom with respect to all coupling con?stants is investigated, the Yukawa coupling constants are shown to be al?ways asvmototically free, the inclusion of gravitational interaction has made them tend to zero faster. The behaviour of the scalar coupling con?stants is analyzed for the Grand Unification model with the gauge groups 0(M) and SU(N). The inclusion of the gravitational interaction is shown to have no effect upon the threshhold value of N, above which the asymptotical freedom takes piece. However, the interaction with a quantized gravi-, tational field weakens the limitations on the number of fermion multiplets. For the theory with the gauge group SU(2), a special solution to the renormalization group equations is found, for which the intensity of all interactions, including gravitational, are determined by a single gauge coupling constant.

MHD-instabllity of the current sheet which can lead to the fast magnetic field reconstruction is considered. The studied processes probably occur during solar flares. The instability is connected with the increase of the magnetic field component normal to the sheet and hence, the increase of the magnetic stretch force which propels plasma out of the sheet. In its turn, the normal magnetic component increases due to magnetic line bending connected with the nonuniform plasma inflow in the sheet by disturbances. Plasma flow along the sheet and gas pressure in the sheet are stabilizing factors. If plasma density near the sheet becomes sufficiently small, then the stabilizing influence of pressure decreases because plasma flow in the sheet cannot compensate plasma outflow along the sheet. This effect appears only if plasma compressibility is taken into account. The instability increment grows at the nonlinear stage since during the development of instability plasma density near the sheet decreases. Another possibility of instability increment grows at the nonlinear stage must be realized if the inflow velocity increases up to the value of the order of thermal velocity.

Correcting the previous claim by one of the authors we show (using the partition function approach) teat the effective action of the open superstring theory coincides (in tee abelian and F = const limit) with the Born-Infeld action. In the second part of tee work we construct order F6 supersymmetric extension of the D = 10 Maxwell theory. We find teat tee F4 +F6 terms in tee action can be uniquely determined from the requirement of tee D = 10 supersymmetry and precisely coincide with the terms appearing in the expansion of the Born-Infeld action.

One of the most important problems in plasma turbulence the?ory remains one of the nonlinear state evolution of a plasma un?der d-c electric field. In this report we qualitatively describe such evolution in a plasma with ion-acoustic turbulence (IAT). The velocity redistribution, heating, influence of such redistri?bution on the ГАТ are taken into account. The results of the ana?lytical XAT theory are compared with computer simulations. The theory of the self-similar space-nonhomogeneous electron distri?bution is given. To understand the experimentally observed self-organizing plasme structures the transport* theory for a plasma with 1ЛТ is used. It is shown that anomalous transport is the re?ason of the new hydrodynamic instability, that leads to the ano?malous transport of the momentum flux density in a plasma.

Tree and one-loop approximation in the N=2 world-sheet supersymmetric 0(2) string theory in D=2 and flat background is considered. The consistent definition of Koba-Nielsen type string amplitudes in 0(N) models based on the supersymmetric Faddeev-Popov procedure is proposed. One-loop path integral is caculated, it is reduced to the integral over «extended» supermoduli space. The result coincides exactly with the corresponding results in the two-dimensional field theory.

We make sane contents concerning toe structure of loop corrections to an effective action (EA) for massless fields of a string. The singular part of the a? ?>0 limit of the one-loop EA in the open (super)string theory is studied and is shown to be in correspondence with the ultra-violet divergent part of the one-loop effective action in the (super) Yang-Mills theory. In particular, we repro?duce the known result about the absence of опе-1оор infinities in D=26 Yang-Mills theory starting from the open Bose string theory. We also discuss the path integral representation for EA (EA = generalized partition function for the sigma-model) and use it to compute the open string theory EA on the disc and the annulus.

Process at laser hardening of steels was investigated theoretically and numerically? We hare solved the equation, which describes heat transfer under laser treatment, including isothermal hardening. We have also solved a kinetic equation for the gamma-phase nucleus rise, and a carbon diffusion equation which takes into account the carbide decay process. The laser hardening depth for the carbon and high-speed steels has been determined. It is shown that the hardening depth for high-speed steels is less than the one in the heat effected stone. Are discussed the ways for optimization of the laser treatment to produce larger laser hardening depth.

New consistent linearized curvatures in the de Sitter space are constructed. The sequence of actions, describing bosconic and ferrmionlc gauge auxiliary fields, is found based on these curvatures. The proposed actions are parametrized by twо integer parameters, n>=0 and m>=0. ‘Ihe simplest case n=m=0 corresponds in the flat limit to the auxiliary fields of «new minimal» supergravity. The hamiltonian formulation is developed for the auxiliary fields suggested: harailtonians and first-and second-class constraints are constructed. Using these results, it is shovm that the systems of fields prooosed possess no dynamical degrees of freedom in de 5;itter and flat spaces. In addition the hamiltcnian foraalisn is analysed fbr some free dynamical systems corresponding to linearized hither-spin curvatures introduced previously.

An infinite-dimensional non-abelian superalgebra is constructed denoted as shsa(l) which gives rise at the linearized level to linearized curvatures of both massless and auxiliary fields, suggested previously by one of us (M.V.). Various properties of shsa(l) are analysed in detail. Specifically, subalgebras of shsa(l) are found which pretend themselves forthe role of independent stper-algsbras of higher spins and auxiliary fields. A simple operator realization of shsa(l) is presented. P-reversal automorphisms are constructed. N=2 de Sitter siperalgebra osp(2,4) is shown to be a maximal finite-dimensional subalgebra of shsa(l)/o(2). It is observed that the even (boson) stfcalgsbra of shsa(l) decompo?ses into the direct sum of two infinite-dimensional lie algebra^ each giving rise to massless fields of all spins. Possible physical implications of this fact are discussed briefly.

The paper starts the programme of rewriting quantum electrodynamics in terms of the manifestly covariant and covariantly computed effective action. A general method for obtaining non-local terms in the effective action is proposed and the term responsible for the one-loop magnetic moment of the electron is worked out. In contrast to the usual calculation based on Green functions, the present calculation nowhere encounters the infrared divergences (including renormalization and restriction to the physical mass shell). Comparison with the method of Green functions shows inadequacy of the latter.

We discuss the general ideology of the computation of string loop corrections to the effective action for the massless modes of the string. Both the S-matrix and the sigma-model approaches are presented. It is emphasised that the effective action is a more general and better defined object than the S-matrix. In particular, it is finite in spite of modular infinities that may be present in loop amplitudes computed near a «wrong» vacuum. The case of the disc topology in the open-closed string theory is treated in some detail. Some issues concerning the soft dilaton vertex operators related to the infinities of the string amplitudes are discussed.

№ 344 PHENOMENON OF ELECTRIC AND MAGNETIC POLARIZABILITY OF PARTICLES IN RELATIVISTIC THEORY

We discuss a phenomenology of the static dipole electric and magnetic polarizabilities of spin <=1/2 particles emphasizing the pecularities and ambiguities caused by relatxvistic effects. Interrelations between different definitions of the polarizabilities are considered; in particular, the definitions via Compton scattering and via energy level shift are argued to be equivalent. In general, a universal character of the polarizabilities as the values determining the particle structure manifestations in different two-photon processes at low energies is demonstrated. A new low-energy formula for the neutron-nucleus scattering cross section, which relativistically allows for the neutron polarizability, is found. Considering the forward virtual Compton scattering we obtain a rather short derivation of an old microscopic formula for electric, and of a new formula for magnetic, polarizability. Explicitly constructing a seairelativistic effective Hamiltonian and calculating an induced dipole moment of the particle placed in an external field we clarify a physical significance additional terms in relativistic formulae for the polarizabilities.

In nuclear photoemulsion exposed at an altitude~25 km of stratosphere during the area scanning was observed the higli nultiplicity event of the 13 type 6 + 9 + 328 (Z = 20, = 1.2-10 eV). The data are presented z about the angular characters of the secondary charged particles from the interaction. A new method is proposed to study the pseudorapidity density of the shower particles using pseudorapidity differences of the adjucent particles.

Abstract. Quantum properties of small Josephson junctions with both linear Ohmic and quasiparticle («cosine») dissipation are investigated. Quantum diffusion of the quasicharge and quantum corrections to the classical conductivity are analyzed. The cur?rent-voltage characteristics and the effect of voltage steps are studied. We show that coherent voltage oscillations may exist not only for small but also for large values of the junction tunneling conductivity. For not very small values of quasipar?ticle conductivity of the junction the frequency of these osci?llations is two times larger than the Bloch oscillations fre?quency. We study the phase diagram of the system for different values of the Josephson coupling energy and show that linear and «cosine» dissipation mechanisms cause the presence of dissipa-tive phase transitions of two types. These phase transitions are qualitatively different from each other in many aspects.

The realization of the charged Bose-ElnBtein condensation in gauge theories with finite particle density is investigated. Bxaaples are found for a situation when two charged Bose-Einstein condensates coexist in equilibriim in a/steas described by Abelian gauge theories. Also Abelian and non-Abelian systems are constructed for which a charged Bose-Einstein condensate is balanced by the charge of a ferBionio aubaystea. A llaitlng transition to infinitely heavy fermions with infinite chemical potential is pointed out, irtiioh turns the fermionic subsystem into an external charge in an Abelian theory. On the contrary, the non-Abelian gauge theory with external charge cannot be obtained by the same dynamical limiting process sinoe it requires a special quantization scheme. It is realized for the Yang-Mills-Higgs model with a constant external charge. Eigenfrequenoies of the system are found, which include an additional quantum degree of freedom induced by the external charge. The contribution of the elgenfrequenoies into the tbermodynamioal potential is found.

A method is proposed for calculating high-temperature asymp?totic behaviour of effective potential which is intended to deal with the situation when the spectra of particles cannot be found explicitly. This method is applied to calculating the high-tempe?rature effective potential of a gas of particles described by the Weinberg-Salam model in presence of leptonic charge density, as well as of all the nonzero average fields (W-condensate, Higgs scalar, electric and weak-neutral chemical potentials) that ap?pear as solution of the equilibrium equations of this system at V zero temperature with the overall electric and weak neutrality preserved. There are three possible phases of the system: the symmetrical phase, the phase with the Higgs condensate, and the one with the Higgs and W-condensate. Equations for the boundary curves separating these phases are obtained and solved.
