The situation with the measurements of the galactic cosmic rays which kinetic energy falls into a so-called medium energy range, from 100 to 500 Mev/n, is briefly considered. We study the regression between the test time series representing the two main methods of the cosmic ray monitoring in the above energy range ? the in situ measurements aboard the spacecraft and the cosmic ray sounding in the Earth?s stratosphere ? and estimate the extension of the IMP-8 data set for the period from October, 2001, to December, 2004.
