The system is described, which includes a four-stage transmitter with pulse width of 8 neec and pulse repetition rate 0.33 ops, and the photo-detecting and registrating instrumentation with time resolution of the on-line mini-computer. The laser is mounted stationery in the Coude configuration of the telescope. The detector package is located in the centre of the telescope polar platform, which prorides a wide field of viev necessary for directing the laser to the reflectors at the dark side of the Moon. The reflected signal Is received during the «time-gate» formed for each laser pulse by the computer, into which the 30-min ephemerieal points are preliminary introduced. The data processing is performed by the on-line computer, and the range residuals are presented on the display with accuracy of 1 nsec. The energy spectrum of a lepton pair produced by an incident lepton via virtual bremsetrahlung is obtained. She masses m and И of pair leptons and of incident lepton are kept arbitrary. For a nonscreened Coulomb centre as a target the result is relatively simple. In a case of screened Coulomb centre we use the analitical approximation [1] for the screening functions ф1, ф1 of Bethe. She corrections due to elastic nuclear form factor are also included. For real photon emission by an incident muon these corrections are in a rather good agreement with the parametrization proposed in[2]and defined more exactly in [1]

№ 73 REGULAR OPTICAL VARIABILITY OF QUASARS AND NUCLEI OF GALAXIES AS A CLUE TO THE NATURE OF THEIR ACTIVITY

We summarize available observational data on that some quasars and active galaxies possess remarkable regular components in their brightness variations: the light curve contains two kinds of regularities — (1) periodic variations with email phase drift and period of about several tens or hundreds of days, and (2) quasi-periodic variations with appreciable phase drift and «period» Pg of about several years. These regularities are in a strong contradiction with the usual concept of the source of activity as a compact star cluster where stars undergo mutual independent collisions or/and flare up like supernova. It is also impossible to explain these regularities within the usual picture of disc accretion on to supermassive black hole. In principle, the difficulties may be avoided in the multiple-pulsar model when the star cluster possesses collective properties (including the common rotation and magnetic field), or in the model of accreting black hole surrounded by an optically thick magnetized plasma corona. In fact, it is difficult to distinguish such rather complicated models from a magnetold — an unique rotating magnetized body. The regular character of the observed light variations may be explained within the framework of supermassive oblique rotator, i.e. of the simplest case of such a body. In this case the period P1 is explained naturally by rotation, and the quasi-period P2 -by pulsating outflow of matter from the rotator

Direct and resonant ionizaion of atoms are considered by an intense electromagnetic wave with an arbitrary (smocth) envelope f(t). Among others the Jwkb method (over time) is used for a solution of the problem. Some regions of light wave parameters are investigated corresponding to different kindes of a resonance broadening. The resonant curves are found, describing the dependence opf the resonant ionization probability on the resonance detuning Е. The resonance width estimation is given, which is valid for every light pulse with any values of its intensity, duration and any form of its envelope.

A theoretical study is made of propagation of light pulses in semiconductor crystals under the condition of interband interaction: , where is the pulse frequency, and is the forbidden bandwidth. Material equations for polarizability and populations in bands taking Into account relaxation processes (electron-phonen, electron-impurity, and electron-electron interactions) are derived. The influence of strong field on collisional processes in studied. The possibility of increasing the relaxation time at the presence of strong field, as well an the effect of oolllsional processes on the character of radiative interband transitions is shown (the appearance of transitions without conservation of electron quasi momentum). The material equations Obtained (including equations far the field) are generalized for the case of doped semiconducters, and may also be used for the study of various radiation regimes in semioenduoter lasers

We discuss the possibility to create multilayer reflecting coating using materials whose dielectric susceptibility is very close to unity at the frequency considered. For a pair of such substances with given Be and Im the explicit expressions for the reflection coefficient and for the optimum thickness of layers have been obtained. The results are extended to the case of oblique incidence for both polarizations. We present here some calculation results for the reflection coefficient when the periodical structures are composed of the following pairs of the media: Al-Cu, Al-Bi, C-Au, for which we could find experimental data on the optical constants in the far UV region. It is shown that the pair carbon-gold yields the best reflectivity. The reflection coefficient for the periodical structure С-Аu, in the wavelength range from —-
, is about 40%. That value is thousand times higher than the Fresnel reflectivity for gold
